Explanation of Protease Mutations-by-Drug Map:

Each row of the figure represents a different drug (labeled on the right), and each row shows the mutations that confer resistance to that drug as ordinary letters. The dashes mean "wild type" amino acids occur at that position. The wild type sequence of the protease protein (strain HXB2) is shown at the top and bottom of the figure. The small number below the mutations is the "fold-resistance" of that particular mutation as recorded in our database. Mutations that have a colored shape pointing to them are also part of a (usually) synergistic combination of mutations, the other members of which in any row also bear the same colored pointer. The leftmost pointer of any synergism is labeled with a number that records the fold-resistance of the combination. This is a clickable map. If you position your pointer over any mutation and click you will be linked to information about that particular mutation. This is a preliminary map that may contain errors or broken links, so please let us know if you see any errors that need to be corrected.
